“When I walk into Ana’s studio, it feels like taking a pause from all the stresses of life and taking a moment for yourself. It’s like a weekly reset moment. I walk out of the studio an hour later feeling taller, stronger, more relaxed. Ana has a unique ability to read the room, so each session differs depending on your needs. It might be working on a physical ailment like a stress triggered shoulder issue, or it might be a more emotional issue like a family trauma, or you are feeling great and full of energy and want to push yourself further, either way Ana is able to cater the lesson to what you need. She’s great company, keeping you entertained but also never losing focus on you and the workout. In fact her "one more’ and another “one more” keeps you pushing and challenging yourself in a really satisfying way. I feel very lucky to have been able to work with Ana for over 5 years, as she’s such an emphatic and knowledgeable teacher.

Pilates works for me because it’s flexible, challenging and feels like a reset moment for my mind and body. The benefits I receive are both physical and (feeling stronger, taller, and more flexible) and mental ( a focus moment for myself). Emotionally, I feel like Ana and the studio are a safe space, where you can let go of the day’s stresses and give your mind and body the tools to deal with them better going forward. “I feel so much better in my body since I started Pilates with Ana 8 years ago.  I am so much stronger and my balance improved greatly. I am more confident climbing stairs, I swim faster and I became a little anxious going down ski slopes, and that too is totally gone!

Her classes are never the same or get dull over time, she has a way of varying and changing the exercises constantly.  Her communication skills are very good and, over time, there has hardly been a lesson that I had to mis due to her, so she is very reliable as well.”

“I used to have terrible back pain which radiated down my legs, which I didn't understand because I was doing lots of sports. I've tried everything to get rid of the back pain, but pilates is the only thing that worked for me.

One of the nice by products is that the techniques in pilates are so helpful in the other sports I do. I feel like it prevents injuries, because you learn how to move safely with your body. Also my general awareness of moving in daily life has improved. When I'm cueing in the grocery store I suddenly can become aware of how I have my pelvis and back, or when I'm on my bike it makes me aware I'm not leaned forward or hanging in my shoulders. Pilates makes me aware of every tiny joint in my body I did not even know I had, or that I was capable of directing.

I'm a GP and I recommend pilates to all my patients with back or neck pain, of all ages and with all sorts of bodies! Because I see it is so effective and safe for the body. It is very important you have a good teacher, to make sure you receive the right adjustments and explanation.

I can say Ana is just the best teacher, and I've seen a couple! She is so passionate about the movement of the body, you feel this in every class. She gives lots of cues, feedback and useful adjustments to help you in the postures and learn you the new way of moving your body.

This is not a regular sportsclass. It makes you strong, but it also improves the whole way you control and direct you muscles and joints. Sometimes I feel like in class my brain is working the hardest of all. I believe this is one of the healthiest exercise routines you can adopt, which you can practice until you're over a 100 years.

The combination of breath and movement is quieting my mind. My striving nature gets a chance to relax, since I'm working with my body instead of being pushed over the edge.”

“Although there is of course a repertoire of exercises, your pilates classes are never the same and always interesting. With other types of exercise I tend to get bored quickly - not with pilates.

“I approached Ana after going through a rough patch psychologically which resulted in me being completely disconnected from my body. I was nervous to tackle that issue to say the least. In my first exchange with Ana she told me “pilates meets you where you are” which took the edge off and I’ve felt patiently cared for by Ana on good and bad days ever since.

It’s been immensely helpful to have the rhythm to get me off my computer and I find myself making the time even on the most stressful of times at work, as it just helps so much to deal with stress, also psychologically.
